Let the browser war continue

by rahul 12/15/2009 11:49:11 PM
I don’t personally want this browser war to end… seriously! And that’s simply because each day the things are becoming simpler and simpler. I tried Google Chrome extensions and can easily see experience how easy things have become for me now. Let’s say you want to twitter a link that you just found. Going to a any URL Shortening service and submitting the link is fine, but just needs a little more dedication, especially for lazy guys like me. What I have now is Google Extensions which looks so... [More]

by rahul 11/5/2009 7:14:06 AM
I thought of doing this many times, but due to the kind of lazy bum that I am… I kept on procrastinating it (until today). And yes, thanks to Vivek for pointing out that the design really isn’t as good as it could be. So, from a site that used to look like this till today, will look as you are looking now. If you are in an RSS Feed reader… this is what you need to click on. Please feel to pass on any constructive feedback at rahul@dotnetscraps.com. I am not a designer, but with whatever limi... Screencast Software – Two free ones that I really liked…

by rahul 5/23/2009 5:01:14 AM
I have been pretty quiet for the last couple of months. There were two reasons for this hiatus. First, I was getting into a little more nitty-gritty of MOSS 2007 and getting my hands dirty with MOSS Development. Secondly, I was thinking about a new way of sharing the knowledge. Not that writing hurts, but more because it is much easier to show something than type it out. Taking screen capture using software for demo/training/sharing is nothing new. I personally feel that when it comes to ... [More]

Getting back to the normal routine…

by rahul 3/16/2009 2:13:31 AM
Somewhere deep down my heart, I know it doesn’t really matter whether I blog or not. But somehow, my mind says something different... probably, just to make myself feel a little better (yeah, everyone thinks he is special and I am no exception ) Nevertheless, this is one of those posts which I am writing simply because I am fed up of being in the bed for over a 10 days now. I underwent a couple of surgeries this week and trying to get back to my normal routine. This upper abdomen pain kept... [More]

Windows 7 – Yeah, I joined the bandwagon too…

by rahul 2/8/2009 4:12:31 AM
…and I must say, I am VERY VERY happy that I did Here is what all I absolutely fell in love with…     Windows + T – If you press the Windows Key along with T, you can see the taskbar getting highlighted. Now, you can press T multiple times or use your arrow keys to move to the application that you would like to activate.     Quick Launch is missing – And although I was a very big fan of it, I don’t miss it at all. You have an option to Pin/Unpin the applicatio... [More]

Playlist copier - Copy your mp3 to a folder from m3u playlist

by rahul 1/11/2009 3:43:33 AM
Requirement > You have a lot of play lists (m3u) and you want to burn all the songs in any play list to some media of your choice (CD, DVD, USB, etc). How do you do it currently? Well, I used to take a look at the file information and copy the files one by one manually. Recently, I wanted to burn a CD for my car audio, and had some 200 odd songs in my play list. It would have taken a long time for me, so I thought of spending a few minutes in writing this piece of code. My Solution >>&g... [More]

Partition + Data recovery nightmare (Error C10000B6) - Thank God it is over!!!

by rahul 12/10/2008 2:39:15 AM
It all started last evening when I turned on my PC. I used to have a lot of partitions (Total 9) in my 2 160 GB HDD. Today when I started my PC, it showed me only 6 drives. The other HDD was present and Windows could recognize the HARD DISK. The problem was that although the Disk Management utility was showing the DISK 1 below as OFFLINE. The screenshot above shows when everything was working fine. When I saw the DISK 1 offline, I tried to bring it online but it threw an error message. I chec... [More]

My last post (as an IIS/ASP.NET guy…)

by rahul 8/28/2008 8:28:36 AM
I still remember the day when I joined Microsoft in Oct 2004. I was excited to be in my dream company, and at the same time, quite tense that I would now be required to support ASP.NET. I was a pure WinForm guy then and since I came from a very small company, “I am a pretty good programmer” thought was getting etched somewhere deep in my mind. Boy, what a big frog I was in a really shallow well! I still thank God for getting me here and showing me the mirror. Not that I’ve become a genius ... [More]
