MOSS 2007 – Step by Step – Table of Content
In this post, we’ll make two more copies of WFE1 called AS and WFE2. After that, we’ll join them in the same domain.
This post will cover part 3.
Copy the VHD for WFE1, and paste it in two different folders with name WFE2 and AS.
Create two new Virtual Machines, WFE2 and AS and attach VHD of WFE2 and AS respectively
Next few steps have to be done on both the machines. I will type out the instructions ONLY for WFE2. The only difference for machine AS would be the IP address. Call it 10.0.0.4
Start up the machine WFE2. Change the TCP/IP settings to…
So we have started this server as…
Time now to rename the server and get a new SID. Use the same utility newsid and change the name of this machine to WFE2.
Select Random SID, click Next
Rename the computer to WFE2, and click Next twice
If you are following along, you will be denied access while trying to logon with the following message…
Log on to local computer.
Disjoin it from the domain. Click Change.
Specify any workgroup name and click ok. Reboot.
Join it back to the dotnetscraps domain and reboot.
So, we started with this…
And now, we have this…
Not that it matters a lot, but I like to keep things clean, and at this point we don’t have the IUSR names clean in WFE2. We will change it as per this post.
Once done, repeat the same steps for AS.
So once again, we have started with this…
And now, we have this…
Now, I have four machines DC, WFE1, WFE2, AS and I am almost done with the pre-work before I start MOSS 2007.
Next step would be to enable Network Load Balancing for WFE1 and WFE2 and ensuring that it works for IIS.
We will discuss about it in the next post. Stay tuned…
